Making A House Our Home – Part II

In our old house we had a nice bunk bed for Mira and Stella, and Lyra had a single bed on the opposite wall.  In the new house we had dreams of a triple bunk bed that they could all share.

So Howard thought upon it; got creative; came to a vision; and went to work.

Like all of our renovations, we enlisted the help of our family and friends and are forever indebted to them for helping make this house into Our Home.

Home Sweet Bed!

Everyone had a hand in helping.

I should make note that the beds are not “completely” done.  Howard still wants to add some finishing touches to it– some decorative pieces here and there.  We’re still toying with the canopy and plan on adding some sort of decorative fringe to it, as well as painting the rods white to match the rest of the bed.  {I’ll keep you posted on updates and pictures}

But for the most part-  TA DA!

The girls showing off the ladder/stairs

Coordinating Nanny-made quilts keep my girls happily ensconced in their favorite color every night.

And yes, from this angle I realize the blades of the fan look scary close.  Rest assured the fan isn’t as close as this image makes it appear; and also that we do plan on switching the fan out for one of those hugger types with smaller blades.  And before I get emails or comments on the dangers of bunk beds, we have strict rules about them and Howard has the bed securely fastened to the wall.

My biggest concern at this point is teaching the girls how to make their beds.  Cause making these bad boys every morning is getting old.real.quick.
